Ultrafast manipulation of magnetic anisotropy in a uniaxial intermetallic heterostructure TbCo<sub>2</sub>/FeCo

Abstract We study experimentally and theoretically the dynamics of spin relaxation motion excited by a femtosecond pulse in TbCo 2 /FeCo multilayer structures with different ratios to FeCo thicknesses r d = T b C o 2 / F e . The main attribute structure is in-plane magnetic anisotropy that artificially induced during sputtering under DC field. optical pump-probe method revealed strongly damped high-frequency oscillations dynamical Kerr rotation angle, followed its slow initial state. Modeling experimental results using Landau–Lifshitz-Gilbert (LLG) equation showed observed entire due destruction restoration rather than demagnetization. For pumping fluence 7 mJ cm −2 , maximal photo-induced disruption field about 14% for sample 1$?> 1 decreases when r d increases. three-stage process: ultrafast one occurs within several picoseconds, on nanosecond time scale. Gilbert damping multilayers found be order magnitude higher constituent monolayers.
